The Trick to Rapping

In all my 19 years I've found that there are many different different types of rapping styles.  The different types of rapping are free-style and rapping with a purpose or meaning. With these different rapping types they all seemed to have 3 things in common,  a story,  felling, but most important, somebody having fun with a sick beat.

First is free-styling, or rapping a line or two at the very least. When free-styling it is alright to use previous verses from other songs, but try not too. If it flows out let the beat roll or if it fits it ships. Free-styling is supposed to be fun and easy, so anyone can do it. Let your mind go free, don’t think about it! Free-styling is supposed to be fun; it does not have to mean anything or have a purpose.  Some good tips for free-styling is to use what is in the moment. It doesn't help you if your mind has nothing to rap about. You can be sitting at a drive thru and rap about getting your food. “I’m sitting at McDonald ordering this Big-mac with fries on the side, oh my bad I would also like to order a fried pie.” It is that simple, to free-styling about nothing, it’s refreshing and fun. Don’t worry if you still can’t get it. Free-styling takes some practice; eventually you will find words that sound similar to others. When you find those words you will need to use those words more often. Words such necklace, reckless, respect it, these words are very easy to rhyme.

Second is rapping like a artist you know! This is a lot more difficult, because it takes practice. Rapping takes a lot more preparation. You have to find what you like rapping about. Most find it in money, sex, and drugs. Other fined their passions in daily issues and even the God they worship. Once you found what you like rapping about, make a subsection of that particular subject and start writing about it. At first it doesn't have to be right just get what you want to say on paper. When you have done that, then you will be able to analyze the main points and begin to rhyme about them. Get creative with your rhyming, use different words other than the normal; doing this can make it easier to rhyme. This process will be the same as free-styling just with a little more thought. While you are writing put your feelings into it.  Make the rap count.  Who knows it may change a persons life.

However you go about rapping, whether that is free-styling or rapping with a meaning. Make sure that its fun for you and the people around you. You don’t have to be a superstar at rapping, all you got to be is you.
